Affiliate disclosure
The short version: if you book a tour through a link on this site, we earn a commission from the platform. It costs you nothing extra, and the price you pay is the same as if you had gone to the listing directly.
Who pays us, and for what
This site participates in two affiliate programmes:
- GetYourGuide. Tour links carrying our partner identifier pay us a commission on completed bookings.
- Viator. The same arrangement, through Viator's affiliate programme.
Those are the only two. No other booking platform, hotel network or comparison site is linked from this site today, and this page gets updated in the same edit as the code if that ever changes. Every affiliate link on the site is marked in the page source with rel="sponsored" and opens in a new tab.
What it does not influence
The commission is paid by the platform out of their own margin, not added to your price. Booking through a link here and booking by typing the tour name into GetYourGuide yourself cost you exactly the same.
It also does not decide what appears on this site. Tours are chosen because they are the highest-reviewed real products in their category and ordered by review count, which is the closest honest proxy we have for how many people actually book them. That is why a Gray Line aurora tour rated 3.5 sits on the northern lights page with its rating stated plainly rather than being quietly dropped, and why the multi-day packages page carries one listing with no rating at all and says so on the card.
You will also find pages here that cost us money: telling you to drive yourself to the Golden Circle, telling you Húsavík whale watching is shut in January, and telling you that the Langjökull tunnel is something you can reach on your own. A recommendation is only worth reading if the site is willing to make the ones that lose it revenue.
What we are not
We are not a tour operator. We do not run, staff, insure or dispatch a single departure listed here. Those belong to real Icelandic companies: BusTravel Iceland, Arctic Adventures, Troll Expeditions, Gray Line Iceland, Reykjavík Excursions, ICELANDIA, Mountaineers of Iceland, Elding, Special Tours, Nicetravel, DIVE.IS, Snowmobile.is, Guide to Iceland, Local Guide of Vatnajökull, Ice Explorers, Your Day Tours, Troll.is, Northern Lights Bus and David The Guide.
We are also not a booking platform. Your booking, payment, changes, cancellations and support all happen with GetYourGuide or Viator and the operator, and we have no access to any of it.
We are not affiliated with Visit Iceland, the Icelandic Tourist Board, safetravel.is, the Icelandic Road Administration or any government body. Where we cite those sources it is because they are the primary record, not because they endorse us.
How the figures on this site are handled
- Ratings and review counts are each platform's own current listing figures, read off the live page and attributed as such. Never rounded, never estimated, never borrowed from a similar product.
- Prices are never printed. Tour prices move by date, season and currency, so every card sends you to the listing where today's real price sits.
- A listing with no reviews says so. One product on this site has no published rating. Its card carries no stars and no rating markup, and states plainly that there is nothing to judge it on yet.
- Cancellation, pay-later and second-chance terms are quoted from the operator's own listing wording rather than paraphrased into something friendlier.
- Seasonal and safety facts come from the Icelandic Met Office, the Road Administration, safetravel.is and Visit Iceland.
Reviews shown on this site
The traveller quotes on the homepage and category pages are real reviews copied verbatim from the operators' live listings, typos included, with the reviewer's first name, month and platform as shown. Long ones are trimmed with a visible [...] and never reworded. We do not present them as first-party reviews of this website, because they are not.
Questions or corrections
If a figure here has gone stale, or a listing changed under us, please tell us. Fixing that quickly is the entire point of a site like this. More on the method behind the picks is on the about page.
